Curriculum Reflection French
This term, our French curriculum has come alive through authentic cultural connections and creative projects.
We established the link with Looe’s twin town, Quiberon, and each student has been assigned a French pen pal.

Year 7 pupils have re-established the link with Looe’s twin town, Quiberon, and each student has been assigned a French pen pal. They have written letters using the language learned in class introducing themselves, describing their likes and appearance and are excited to continue this exchange throughout the year. One student commented, “making the letter was tricky but I feel accomplished, I hope we do more things like this.” Year 8 learners have been learning all about Paris, making links between learning French and understanding the culture and global importance of the capital city. Later this year, pupils will design French leaflets about Looe, which will be displayed in the visitor centre for French tourists to use a project that gives their language learning a genuine purpose and audience. These experiences have sparked curiosity and shown learners how French connects them to the wider world.
