Curriculum Reflection - History
This term, the history curriculum has come alive through critical thinking and exciting challenges.
Year 7 have been investigating how William I was able to gain control of England through castles and the Domesday Book. We looked at real examples from this 950-year-old document as well as using the National Trust as a way of bringing history to life, by using current practice marketing strategies and examples of how visitors are enticed into visiting NT properties.
Year 8 have been investigating the causes of the English Civil War and the execution of Charles I. Eyewitness accounts and creative writing have been a feature of this work, with some lovely newspaper articles written.
Year 9 have been exploring the reality of trench warfare, with a great use of data analysis and graphs to assess whether recruitment was affected by the reality of war, as well as the brutality of trench warfare and its effects.
