Curriculum Reflection -RS & PSHCE

Religious Studies

In Religious Studies this term we have enlivened the curriculum in the following ways:

Year 10 GCSE group visiting the Orthodox synagogue in Plymouth.

Year 9 hearing from a speaker from the Humanist movement as part of their studies on non-religious beliefs in the UK today.

Year 8 have had a speaker from the Kadampa Meditation Centre practice some meditation with them as part of their studies on Enlightenment.

PSHCE

All students experienced a “drop down” day for PSHCE on 16 October. The theme of British Values and the rule of law were followed by all students. This involved speakers from YouHQ about revision and mental health, Fake News and extremism with “Since 9/11” charity.

Also, Year 7 heard all about local democracy with Kim Spencer explaining how the skate park in Looe is evolving.

Recently, the local MP Anne Gelderd visited LCA as part of Parliament Week, where she spoke to Year 10 students about life as an MP.
